Our History
The RAM Family of Companies is made up of three separate but highly integrated companies, RAM Buildings, RAM General Contracting, and RAM Excavating. The beginning foundations of this family trio of businesses dates back to the early education and careers of both founders, Rawelin ‘Rollie’ Radtke and Gregg Machemehl.
Rollie’s construction experience began at an early age working for his Father’s construction company, Raymond B. Radtke Construction. Gregg began his construction career as a junior in high school by working summers for a local construction company. After college, both men continued in the industry gaining hands on, professional experience in construction, design, estimating, sales, and management. In 1998, Rollie and Gregg began to talk about partnership in a joint venture. Their experience, combined with relationships they had established in the industry and local communities were the key building blocks to the success of the future business.
(Fun Fact about RAM companies: the corporation name is an acronym of Radtke And Machemehl.)
RAM Buildings, Inc. was established in 1999. This newly formed company was built on over 36 years of the partners combined experience in the construction & building industry. Since its inception, RAM Buildings has been a thriving part of the Midwest construction industry. Its capabilities include both post frame and steel frame construction for equestrian, commercial, agricultural, storage, and residential projects.
RAM General Contracting, Inc. was officially founded in 2005 as a direct response to the ever expanding needs of RAM Buildings’ clients. Rollie and Gregg were already general contracting many of the projects for their existing clientele. This new company allowed them to broaden their spectrum of clients and expand the size and scope of projects that the company could manage. Today, RAM GC specializes in high-end equestrian facilities, commercial and industrial enterprises along with municipal and school projects.
